The present work is a study for the painting “En dreng føres af sine forældre til klostret” (A boy is brought to the monastery by his parents) from 1830–1831, which Meyer later repeated in 1836–1837. A version hereof is located at Statens Museum for Kunst with inventory number KMS1106, while others are located at Landesmuseen Schleswig-Holstein and in private collections.
