A George III bracket clock with gilt brass dial, openwork corner ornaments, silvered chapter ring, the movement with hour striking, strike-silent and calendar. the back plate richly engraved, later case Japanned gilt and black painted wood. The dial and movement signed 'Jn. Monkhouse, London. England, late 18th century. H. 48 cm. W. 30 cm. D. 19 cm.
John Monkhouse is listed as working from London 1756–1771.
Condition
Wear due to age and use. The watch works, but we do not guarantee for the functionality. The movement appears clean and in working order. Pendulum, winding key and key is enclosed. Case and clock work originally not set.
