Niels Emil Holm (b. Aarhus 1823, d. Copenhagen 1863)

Emil Holm was born in Aarhus, and came to Copenhagen in 1841, where he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 1857, he travelled to Sicily, where he remained until 1863. Later that year, Holm returned to Denmark, where he died in December 1863, only 40 years old.
