Lorentz Nordin (b. 1708, d. 1786)
A Swedish Rococo rosewood commode with gilt bronze mountings, curved profiled top of Kolmråden stone above curved sides and front with three drawers. The back with silver plaque engraved: 'Givet af medlemmerne af Majoratsforeningen og foreningen Skov-og Landejendomsbesiddere, 16. Mai 1937'. ('Given by the members of the Majorate Association of the Forest and Country Ownership Association, May 16, 1937'). The upper drawer stamped 'L. Nordin' (master in 1743). Mid-18th century. H. 84 cm. W. 130 cm. D. 66 cm.
Provenance: Present to the King Christian X of Denmark for his 25th reign anniversary; his son Hereditary Prince Knud of Denmark; his daughter Her Highness Princess Elisabeth to Denmark (1935–2018); her heirs Josephine of Rosenborg, Camilla of Rosenborg and Feodora of Rosenborg.
