Duke Carl of Glücksborg (1813–1878) was the son of Duke Wilhelm of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (1785–1831) and his wife, Duchess Louise (1789–1867), née Princess of Hesse-Kassel. He was thus the brother of, among others, King Christian IX of Denmark, Prince Hans of Glücksburg and Duchess Friedrike of Anhalt-Bernburg. Duke Carl was married to King Frederik VI of Denmark's daughter, Princess Wilhelmine. The marriage was childless and the ducal title with Glücksburg Castle and several estates therefore passed to his brother, Duke Friedrich of Glücksburg.

King Frederik VI of Denmark was married to Princess Marie of Hesse-Kassel, who was Duchess Louise of Glücksburg's sister. These sisters were daughters of Landgrave Carl of Hesse-Kassel and his wife, Landgravine Louise of Hesse-Kassel, née Princess of Denmark as daughter of King Frederik V. Duke Carl and Duchess Wilhelmine of Glücksburg were thus first cousins ​​and both grandchildren of the Landgrave couple.

Condition

The paper has turned slightly brown. Some foxing. A crease in the middle with a little tear to the right. Examined in frame.
