Laurits Tuxen (b. Copenhagen 1853, d. s.p. 1927)

View of the heath and Den tilsandede Kirke (the sand-covered church) in the background seen from Vesterby, Skagen. Signed and dated L. T. Skagen 10/9 02. Oil on canvas. 31×59 cm.

The lonely house in the foreground still exists, now as a small farm. The house is called “Fredensklit” and is located on Gl. Kirkesti in Skagen. The house was built in 1902 by farmer Peter L. Jørgensen, who had sold his property to Laurits Tuxen, the current Tuxen's villa. Fredensklit is located south of this.
