Step 2 – Sell at Live Auction or Online Auction

At Bruun Rasmussen, we offer sales on two types of auctions – Live Auction and Online Auction. Our specialists monitor the market closely and know the type of auction your objet d’art will do best in.

Live Auction

The Live Auctions have attracted a quality-conscious international buyer base since we began in 1948. At the Live Auctions, the auctioneer wields the hammer over the most expensive objets d’art, design classics, antiques, jewellery, wristwatches and rare collector’s items. Ahead of every auction, all the items set to go under the hammer are put on display at the preview, and they can also be viewed online at bruun-rasmussen.dk and in our richly illustrated auction catalogues. The auctions are livestreamed and can be followed at bruun-rasmussen.dk.

Online Auction

At Online Auctions, we sell items in the same categories as at Live Auctions, but most often they are at a more accessible price level. All items are presented online at bruun-rasmussen.dk for art collectors and interior design enthusiasts from all over the world and, in the weeks leading up to the sale, they can be seen at the preview in our showrooms in Lyngby, Aarhus or Glostrup.

Step 3 – Consign to Auction

Once you’ve decided to sell at auction, you’ll get a receipt for your consignment. The receipt will show the valuation and the reserve price agreed with the seller. The valuation is an estimate of the market value of the item in question and serves as a guide for the buyer. The reserve shows the lowest amount that the item in question can be sold for at auction.

After the Auction

Once the auction has ended and your item has been sold, we will transfer the hammer price less the commission and fee to the bank account you have registered in our system. In the case of a sale at Live Auction, the transfer is initiated approximately 30 days after the end of the auction week. In the case of a sale at Online Auction, this is done approximately 16 days after the end of the auction week.
