The set is complete with 3240 orig. hand-coloured engraved plates of plants + one extra plate no. I, uncoloured. Main title leaves to all volumes + half titles to all parts (except from vol. I’s 1st part, VIII’s 3rd part and vol. IX's parts 1 and 2.) Text leaves before all 54 parts, 7 vols. are with text in Danish, the rest of the vols. in Latin. All plates in vol. I are annotated in 18th-19th century hand (at bottom of page). Most plates in vol I’s first part elegantly repaired/reinforced at bottom of leaves. A few plates in vol. XVI and XVII annotated (at bottom of page) in 19th-20th century hand. Vol. II with headband worn, vol. III with tailband worn, vol. IX with fronthinge loose, vol. VIII titleleaf with foxing, vol. XIII text leaves to part 3 with browning, vol. XIV-XVII + the supplementary parts have some plates with foxing. All 19 vols. bound in nice full calf bindings, with gilt spines and marbled edges (19th and 20th century). A few vols. with slightly fading to boards. (19)

A very nice and complete set of Flora Danica - the most extensive illustrated work in the Danish history of printing. The first part of the book was published in 1761, and the last 123 years later in 1883. The work, which is a true product of the Age of Enlightenment, contains 3240 engravings of plants and flowers native to Denmark. This complete work comprises 51 parts and 3 supplements. Very rare in complete sets.
