George Graham (b. Cumberland 1673, d. London 1751)

A George III longcase clock, Later walnut case, the gilt brass dial with openwork corner ornaments, silvered dial, movement with hour striking, minute and calendar disposal. Marked 'George Graham, London fecit'. 18th century. H. 235 cm. W. 55 cm. D. 27 cm.

Provenance: East Asiatic Company's main office in Copenhagen.

George Graham was partner to the influential English clockmaker Thomas Tompion during the last few years of Tompion's life. He is credited with inventing several design improvements to the pendulum clock and was made Master of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1722.
