Arje Griegst

A pearl and moonstone ring set with a cultured baroque pearl, numerous cabochon moonstones, square and brilliant-cut diamonds and fancy-cut sapphires, mounted in 20k gold. Signed A. Griegst. Size 54. H. app. 3.3 cm. Weight app. 24 g.

The ring is made by the cire perdue technique in order to achieve a greater artistic expression, and this technique gave Arje Griegst a greater flexibility in positioning the stones that he would have had in the traditional goldsmithing. Cire perdue is a traditional method for casting bronze sculptures, and is unusual in jewellery making.
