A large Russian silver tankard, gilt interior, final with robe and anchor, body chased with old-Russian ornamentation and foliage, engraved with the paddle steamer “Magdalena” and Cyrillic text: “For Alfons Alexandrovich Sebeke from the Trade Union in Nizhny Novgorod. Thank you for the Trade Union could use the ship MAGDALENA for a dinner for their Imperial Highnesses, Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich and Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, August 22 1885”. Provenance: Acquired by present owner's Norwegian family in Stockholm in the 1960s or 1970s.
