Poul Henningsen (b. Ordrup 1894, d. Hillerød 1967)

“PH-3/2”. Rare floor lamp with browned brass frame and socket house. Extremely rare shades with outside of green glass, inside of white opal glass. Bottom bowl of frosted glass. This example manufactured 1930–1931 by Louis Poulsen. H. 145 cm.

It is extremely rare to see PH shades with green opal glass, and the shades here were presumably only manufactured for the Tivoli electricity exhibition in September 1930, where PH lamps were presented at Louis Poulsen's stand. A giant flower “floated” above the stand with a white corolla and green leaves made up of PH lamps in different sizes. In the Louis Poulsen catalogue “PH Office Lighting List No. K.1” from 1930 a special version including “shades with green overlays” can be seen, while catalogue B from 1931–1932 is displayed without specifying these shades, so it can be assumed that they were only available in 1930–1931.
