Sune Christiansen (b. 1988)
Untitled, 2023. Signed monogram. Polychrome glazed earthenware. 30×10×11 cm.
The Danish artist Sune Christiansen (b. 1976) lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. Christiansen is a self-taught artist who works with figurative abstraction in a playful and inviting visual language. The artist's choice of materials is oil chalk, pastel, acrylic and industrial enamel paint. Christiansen has stepped away from his previous career as a graphic designer and is now focusing full time on painting. Christiansen draws on his extensive experience working with digital drawing tools to refine palettes and compositions of new works. Once an arrangement of shapes is loosely identified, Christiansen begins to respond to these preliminary drawings on the canvas' surface, focusing more on materiality and visual sensation than any attempt to faithfully reproduce the original sketch. Although the execution of Christiansen's work is so natural that it feels unnoticed, the reality is that the artist's paintings are carefully composed and rooted in a strong interest in pictorial traditions and art history.
Original condition.
