Arne Jacobsen (b. Copenhagen 1902, d. s.p. 1971)

Unique Cuban mahogany armchair. Sides, back and seat upholstered with original, patinated natural leather. Made and designed 1935.

Provenance: Mr. L.P. Jørgensen, CFO at Novo 1934–1972 who was allowed to take the chairs home in relation to a rebuild at Novo in the 1950s, then by descent. Made for the office of the founders of Novo Therapeutic Laboratory, the brothers Thorvald & Harald Petersen circa 1935. The chair is a so far unknown model, which again falls naturally into the design language which Arne Jacobsen explored in his chairs at this early stage in his career. The characteristic back is similar to the back found on the contemporary chair Arne Jacobsen made for the Bellevue theatre also in 1935.
