“Á Porta lamp”. Very rare pendant with six copper shades, coated with a slightly frosted gold plating and partly later white lacquer. Designed immediately after “the Paris-lamp” to the restaurant “Schucani & á Porta” in November 1925. Manufactured by Laurtiz Henriksens Metalvarefabrik for Louis Poulsen. Diam. 60 cm.

Literature: “Light Years Ahead”, referred to and ill. p.p. 118–119. Provenance: Architect Magnus Stephensen, since his family. Poul Henningsen encouraged Magnus Stephensen to acquire this lamp from the restaurant “Schucani & á Porta”. PH had expressed his lack of enthusiasm for the Salto-painting on the lamp, and wanted the lamp to appear in its purest minimalist form, so the lamp was painted in the present white color that PH selected for this lamp.
