How to bid via the Internet

Step 1: Create an account.

In order to buy at Bruun Rasmussen on the Internet you need to register as a client with us. Once you have done so, you will be assigned a customer ID and a password.

If you are already registered as a client with Bruun Rasmussen, you should log in by entering your existing customer ID and password.

Step 2: Find the article you wish to bid for

If you are interested in a specific artist, designer or auction, the website enables you to search for these. Enter what you require in the search box in the top-left corner – for instance you might write P.S. Krøyer – and then view all the paintings at auction by P.S. Krøyer.

If you already know the auction and lot number of the desired item, you can find the item by entering it directly in the search box. For example, write 737/1705 to view lot 1705 in auction 737.

You can also carry out searches in the various categories, and view all the items for sale within the category. Remember that search results will display items being sold at both the traditional and the online auctions. Grouping is shown at the top of the page.

Step 3: Choose the amount you wish to bid

All bids are max. bids. In other words, the bid you submit is the maximum that you wish to pay. The commission agent ensures that the hammer price is as low as possible and also at the most the amount you specified in your commission bid.

Please note that commission bids submitted via the website must be submitted no later than 3 hours prior to the start of the auction.

Step 4: Confirm your bid

To avoid submitting erroneous bids, the system requests you to confirm your bid before it is finally registered. All costs associated with a successful bid will be itemized on this page.

Step 5: Your bid

You can view all the items you have bid for by clicking on Your Bids next to the Log off button.

In contrast to online auctions, it is not possible to view bids next to the individual items, as bids are also submitted in other ways.

Step 6: Hammer price

Once the final bid has been submitted in the auction room and the hammer has been put down, the item will now appear under Results, where the hammer price is stated.

Furthermore you will receive an e-mail informing you if you got the item.
