About buying at an online auction
An online auction every week
Bruun Rasmussen holds online auctions every week from Monday to Thursday and the articles on sale are classified in the same categories as we are familiar with at the traditional auctions. The auction takes place in the evening – usually from 8 pm, making it possible for you to join us at the last minute after work.
The online auctions are numbered by year and week. Thus auction number 445 is an online auction in 2004, week 45.
The table below shows you which categories are sold on which days, and when:

Previews
Besides being displayed on the website, Bruun Rasmussen exhibits all articles that will be coming under the hammer at a preview. If an article is being sold at Auction 445 (2004, week 45), there will be a preview of these articles during the whole of week 44. The date of the preview is found on the website next to the individual auction.
At the previews you also have opportunities to contact our valuers should you wish to hear more about the condition of an article, since articles at auction are bought as seen.
Bruun Rasmussen’s experts assign an estimate to each article as an indication of its value. Nevertheless, the estimate is only indicative and may be both higher or lower, depending on the interest there is for the article concerned.
Bidding
Online auctions are auctions where bids are given and the hammer falls exclusively over the Internet.
If you wish to bid over the Internet at Bruun Rasmussen, you need to create an account. To bid on an online auction please register credit card details as well.
The details are required on the grounds of security and will only be used if you submit the successful bid at one of Bruun Rasmussen’s online auctions. This information will only have to be registered when you wish to bid at an online auction for the first time. You might like to read more about Bruun Rasmussen’s privacy statement.
All bids are auto bids, i.e. the bid indicates the highest bid you wish to make. The system ensures that the hammer price is as low as possible and also at the most the sum you have stated as your auto bid.
All costs associated with any successful bids will be specified before confirming your bid.
Commission and taxes
25 per cent is added to the hammer price which covers both commission and VAT.
In rare cases, a 20 percent commission is added to particular lots prior to the addition of 25 per cent VAT. Such lots are marked with a star (*).
The works of more recent Danish and foreign artists are subject to a statutory 5 per cent Copy-Dan charge when the hammer price exceeds DKK 1,670.
Hammer price and payment
If you submit the successful bid for one or more articles at an online auction, after each auction day you will receive a confirmation by email containing an invoice and information about transport.
The purchase price (the hammer price and costs) will be collected with the help of the submitted credit card and account details when the article is marked for delivery (normally about 12 hours after the day's sales).
At the same time the purchaser is sent invoice and transport details. You can register using Diners Club, Visa, Eurocard, MasterCard - and Dankort. In general, please refer to Bruun Rasmussen’s Conditions of purchase.
Collection and shipping
Transport must be arranged no later than Monday in the week after the auction. If this is not done, the articles will be sent for remote storage at the purchaser’s expense and risk. Collection and shipping is at the expense and risk of the purchaser.
