Auction: Selected
Invite the light, the rarities and a world of interior decor possibilities inside with the first Selected auction of the year. We present curated content that, together with the increasing warmth of the spring, will be able to breathe new life into most living rooms. The auction takes place on 27 March and features rare and unique items from all the antique categories such as furniture, rugs, sculptures, clocks and more.
Invite the Spring Season Inside with Neoclassical FurnitureOf the classical styles we have chosen for the auction, the Danish Louis Seize-inspired furniture as well as the Swedish Gustavian furniture stand out with their characteristic light colours in, for instance, white and light blue. The styles have their origin in the 18th century, and they have their clean lines and symmetry in design in common, which can ensure both a stylish and calm mood in the rooms the furniture pieces end up in. The auction includes, among other items, several armchairs, a mirror and a chest-of-drawers in the Louis Seize style, while the Gustavian furniture is richly represented with both side chairs, sofas, mirrors and display cabinets. |
The Quirky DetailPerhaps the interior could use a quirky set piece. This time around, we can offer you a diorama – a three-dimensional representation of a scene. In this case, it is a group of different white birds sitting on branches, which should make most guests pause to get a closer look at the fine details. If the space allows it, the auction also offers a richly carved ceremonial Chinese palanquin, which was originally intended to transport a religious figure in processions during festivals and other events. Finally, there is also a slightly more modern choice to make with a 1940s wooden Coca-Cola wall sign. |
A Selection from and to the Whole World
As can be seen from the different lots at our Selected auctions we source objects from the rich history of the whole world. In total, we have more than 150 items at auction this time around, and countries such as China, France and the Netherlands are represented with fine examples of furniture created during some of their respective national heydays for design and craftsmanship.
But it is not only the items that come from all over the world. The same applies to our international client base. With the sale of Bruun Rasmussen to Bonhams last year, our customers have only become more global, and today the individual lots are presented to a much larger and versatile group of people. So, who knows, perhaps you need to act quick if the right furniture piece or treasure appears at auction before it disappears to the other side of the world. In any case, we all wish you a good auction.
