Pingus – legendary wine
Pingus
… needs no further introduction. Peter Sisseck is, without a doubt, Denmark’s undisputed king of the international wine world. The remarkable thing is that, in Sunday’s online auction, we are selling a whole case of Pingus from the first official vintage, 1995. This vintage is what quite quickly earned Pingus the status of a cult wine, partly because of the high points it was awarded by the all-powerful Robert Parker, and partly because of the fate that this vintage subsequently met.
A few years after the wine saw the light of day, it was dispatched for its launch in the US market. A whole nation waited with bated breath for Peter Sisseck’s wines from Ribera del Duero, Spain, but tragically the European cargo ship foundered in November 1997 en route to the US, and its precious cargo – including 900 bottles of Pingus 1995 – sank to the bottom of the sea. Thus, a large proportion of that year’s total production of 3,900 bottles was lost in the Atlantic.
Join in the bidding for this delightful vintage – or for the other complete cases of Pingus from the 2001, 1998 and 1997 vintages, all from the same private wine cellar.
Great Bourgogne vintages
From the same private wine cellar, we have a number of superb Bourgognes from the classic 2005, 2003, 2002 and 2001 vintages, among others. You might care to look at some complete cases of Gros Frère ET Soeur and Domaine Leroy. There’s ample opportunity here to bring home a good investment for your cellar.
If you would like to try a really old bottle of Bourgogne, there are two outstanding opportunities in this auction. One is in the form of 1929 Vosne Romanée “Beaumonts”, bottled here in Denmark. The colour still looks good, and the bottle is in good condition for its age. The other is “Clos de Tart” F. Chauvenet of the same year – also in good condition commensurate with its age, having been kept in a private wine cellar for a number of years.
Tasting these bottles might be rather interesting!
Distinguished survivors
A number of special bottles have come to light from a private wine cellar in Jutland. Not all of them are in equally good condition, but the colour of the wine still appears to be dark. Here you can find wines such as: 1896 Latour, 1924 Mouton Rothschild, 1900 Brane Cantenac, 1904 Margaux, Magnum 1920 Latour and a 1929 Durfort Vivens. Extremely rare wines, with probably only a handful of specimens still in existence anywhere in the world.
There’s plenty more to tempt you, so why not click here and join in the bidding.
Happy bidding!
