Portraits by Petra Kleis: Supporting Women's Fight for Climate
When women engage in the fight for the nature and climate, it leads to strong results. At Bruun Rasmussen, we are proud to support this important work through a collaboration with WWF World Wildlife Fund, ARKEN, and the renowned photographer Petra Kleis. On 19 August, we will auction 11 portraits of Kenyan women who are fighting for sustainable development.
In many communities, women are the ones living closest to nature – they fetch water, cultivate the land, and ensure their families’ survival. Despite their central role, they are often overlooked in decision-making processes. WWF works to give women a voice and an active role in solving the global nature and climate crises. Photographer Petra Kleis has captured 11 Kenyan women at the forefront of nature conservation and sustainable development. Each art piece celebrates the women’s courage and stands as a powerful symbol of their fight.
"Some say that certain tasks are only for men. I disagree (...). I want to encourage and inspire other women to become rangers. Women have just as much potential to become rangers as men, maybe even better."

Discover the artworks at Bruun RasmussenNow, the exhibition "The Face of Change: Women Fighting for Nature" can be experienced at Bruun Rasmussen on Nørgaardsvej 3 in Lyngby – all the way up to the auction day. Through 11 beautiful portraits, Petra Kleis’ has captured the Kenyan women's inspiring stories of protecting endangered animals, reforestation and the way of creating new opportunities in local communities. The photographs are taken in the diverse landscapes the women are fighting to preserve – from savannahs to mangrove forests and the ocean. The exhibition is created in collaboration with Danida and is based on projects supported by WWF. |
Art and Activism: Auction at Bruun RasmussenAlongside the exhibition, you can bid on Petra Kleis’ portraits at the Online Auction at Bruun Rasmussen. The hammer falls on 19 August, but you can start bidding now. By participating in the auction, you contribute directly to the women’s fight for a more sustainable world. The artworks demonstrate how art and activism can go hand in hand to create change. The entire proceeds go directly to WWF’s projects in Kenya, supporting women’s work in creating green jobs, restoring forests, and combating climate change. |
