Themed auction: Explore the many facets of graphic art

Dive into a wide selection of prints and editions at our Online Auction on 4 February. Here, aesthetics, exceptional craftsmanship, and the pressing questions of our time converge in works created by both established artists and emerging talents from the Danish and international art scenes.

Art possesses a unique ability to sharpen our focus on contemporary issues, expand our horizons, and offer new perspectives. This is particularly evident in modern graphic art, where artists create works that are as inspiring as they are thought-provoking.

At the themed auction on 4 February, we present a diverse collection of modern graphic art in the form of prints and editions. The works showcase a variety of fascinating techniques – from woodcuts and etchings to lithography and screen printing.

What unites all the works in the auction is an uncompromising artistic process. Each edition is meticulously limited, signed, and approved by the artists themselves, making every piece a unique combination of craftsmanship and history.

Pierre Soulages: “Sérigraphie no. 18”, 1988. Signed Soulages, CCXXXIV/CCC. Silkscreen in colours. Estimate: DKK 40,000

We have a rich and vibrant tradition for graphic workshops, whose high professionalism and expertise are in demand both at home and abroad. J. Chr. Sørensen's lithographic workshop and Permild & Rosengreen in particular have been associated with high-quality graphic art since the late 1940s. And since the early 1960s, Danish graphics have had a prominent bastion and ambassador in the metropolis of Paris in the form of Atelier Clot, Bramsen & Georges (today Clot, Bramsen & Brunholt). Workshops such as UM Grafik, Hostrup-Pedersen & Johansen and Steinprent (Tórshavn, Faroe Islands) have been – and continue to be – important quality stamps to know and navigate by. This means that several international artists come here to create their original graphic art in Denmark – often in collaboration with an expert ”master printer” – as seen at renowned workshops such as Edition Copenhagen and Borch Editions.

Danielle Orchard: “An End In Sight”. Signed Danielle Orchard 2023, 47/50 and on label on the reverse. Archival pigment print in colours. Estimate: DKK 10,000-12,000

Graphic art holds a central position in the Danish art scene – and on the walls of many private homes. At the auction, you’ll have a unique opportunity to explore the diversity of graphic art and experience works that blend contemporary issues with exceptional artistic quality.
