Focus on Female Artists

Interest in works by female artists has never been greater! At our Live Auction in December, we will be focusing on female artists from the latter half of the 19th century, and we are currently on the lookout for works for this auction.

Female artists from all over the world are being honoured with exhibitions that not only put the spotlight on their work but also broaden our horizons when it comes to art history. In the 19th century, women had very limited opportunities to develop their artistic talent and have often been all but forgotten by art history. This new focus on female artists has brought overlooked aspects of art history to light, and interest in the talent of female artists can also be felt in the auction market. Both private collectors and museums at home and abroad are looking to expand their collections as art history is rewritten.

We’re on the lookout

We are currently looking for works for the auction on 1 December by pioneering female artists from the latter half of the 19th century such as Anna Ancher, Bertha Wegmann, Elisabeth Jerichau Baumann, Emilie Mundt, Anna Syberg, Bertha Dorph, Emmy Thornam and Marie Krøyer.

NB: The consignment deadline is Monday 26 October.
