454 Wine Lots Up for Auction!

The wines at the current auction at bruun-rasmussen.dk are as hot as the late summer weather, which is currently beaming down from an infinite, light blue sky above, and which we hope with all our might will continue until the first asparagus of spring will once again stretch towards the same baby blue roof.

We Always Commence with Champagne!

As the attentive viewer has probably noticed, we can this time offer different cuvées and vintages from the house of Jacquesson. Complex wines with great drinking pleasure and for great conversations. Jacquesson is a producer that has invested heavily in quality and exclusivity since the total production has been cut by almost a third over the last ten years. Jacquesson rightly has the status of a “négociant”, but anyone with a penchant for Grower Champagnes and a problematic relationship with the size of the commercial producers’ dosage of sugar should look no further for their new favourite winemaker.

A Gender Normative Postulate

To live as counts and barons, or even better as countesses and barons. The renowned Bordeaux castles Château Longueville au Baron de Pichon-Longueville and Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande need no further introduction, but at this auction, there should finally be a chance to once and for all decide whether there is any truth to the gender normative postulate that sticks to the castles like the smell from a bakery at five in the morning after a night on the town: Is the countess the feminine, seductively aromatic and transparent wine, and is the baron the manly, dark and complex gentleman, as has been argued on so many occasions that it is difficult to challenge this prevailing view in wine circles.

Wine with Wisdom

A trip across the river, dry-shod ashore and a small hike further south to Pomerol. A bottle of Trotanoy in magnum size in the majestic and everlasting vintage of 2005 is the highlight of the auction's collection of Pomerol wines. Trotanoy is a small and exclusive domain consisting of 8 hectares that has its emphasis on Merlot – yet with a small share of Cabernet franc to balance the dark chocolate and black-blue fruit. This is a wine that will only gain in weight and wisdom, and the contents of the bottle will undoubtedly transfer this wisdom to the thirsty palates that are lucky enough to taste it. The fewer to share the source, the more wisdom will be dispersed by this liquid into the rushing and heavily intoxicated blood of those who drink it.

Bubbles on Second Fiddle

And we always finish with Champagne. Real wine equals Cedric Bouchard. Bouchard makes wine with notoriously low atmospheric pressure in the bottle, which makes the wine feel creamier and with fewer bubbles to disturb the quiet wine's impression on the palate. Granted, there are bubbles in Bouchard, but they play second fiddle to the terroir – the golden calf worshiped here. Minimal production, maximum experience.
