Buy Art – to Support Children in Need

In the service of a worthy cause, you can now bid on a series of works by the brightest stars on the firmament of contemporary art. In collaboration with the Red Cross and art curator Jens-Peter Brask, we are hosting an Online Auction with ten contemporary works of art for the benefit of projects aimed at, for instance, helping Syrian children during the cold winter months.

Art and charity merge as we auction off ten contemporary works of art by a number of renowned international artists to support the Red Cross’ work on projects such as aid to the children in winter-cold, war-torn and pandemic-hit Syria. The auction takes place online, and you can bid and support the cause until 2 February at bruun-rasmussen.dk.

The Hottest Artists at the Moment

Greg Bogin: “Help is on the way”, 2020. Acrylic and ink on paper laid down on paper board. 50×70 cm. Estimate: DKK 20,000-25,000.

The lineup of art at the auction, arranged by art curator and Red Cross ambassador Jens-Peter Brask, includes names such as Eddie Martinez and Michael Bevilacqua, who are among the hottest and most sought-after international artists at the moment. In addition, there is a string of younger artists with promising career prospects, including Bennet Williams, who lives and works in New York.

Unique Works Created for the Auction

“The artists at the auction have all – like Bruun Rasmussen and ourselves – decided to support this project without receiving any form of payment. The artists have donated their works, and several of these pieces have even been created for this auction in particular. The artist Michael Bevilacqua's group of four drawings was created during the corona lockdown as a kind of diary,” says Jens-Peter Brask, who has curated the works from his large network within the art world.

“For art collectors, there is a lot to catch up on. In addition, Bruun Rasmussen will not charge a buyer’s premium at the auction, which is another good reason to place an extra bid”

Children Affected by Cold Weather, War and the Pandemic

Although the children in Syria are currently not in the headlines of the news due to the pandemic, the need for help in the area is still great and even greater right at this moment since the area is not only struggling with war and cold weather but also with the consequences of the pandemic. Secretary-General of the Red Cross, Anders Ladekarl elaborates:

"Right now, the children are freezing in the Syrian refugee camps, and help is urgently needed. The Red Cross is present in the largest camps, where we, among other initiatives, provide medical care and distribute blankets, woolen underwear, food and clean drinking water. Therefore, we are very grateful that Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers and Jens-Peter Brask have taken this initiative to help the Red Cross' work for children and adults in need. We hope that many art enthusiasts will bid at the auction, so we can help the many children through the icy winter in Syria."

Eddie Martinez: Untitled. Signed EM 18–19. Sharpie, coloured pencil, crayon, marker and debris on paper. 22.9×20.3 cm. Estimate: DKK 40,000.
