On the Lookout for Danish 20th Century Stoneware

This October, we will focus on Danish 20thCentury stoneware from approx. 1930-1960, and we are currently looking for consignments for this theme auction.

Axel Salto, Eva Stæhr-Nielsen and Arne Bang – nothing is more popular within interior design at the moment than stoneware from the Danish Golden Age. The years 1930-1960 represent an era in Danish stoneware, where high craftsmanship and artistic quality merged with the beautiful glazes and shapes that have proven to be a model for posterity.

Valuation and Consignments to Auction

Due to the current high demand, we have a theme auction planned for 16 October, where we will present a large selection of stoneware.

If you have any stoneware that you are considering selling at auction, feel free to come by one of our locations for a free and non-binding valuation. We are open on every weekday and Saturday at our locations in Aarhus and Copenhagen. View addresses and opening hours.

NB: The deadline for consignments is Monday 3 September

Unique Stoneware Artists

It was during the years between 1930 and 1960 that the broad-minded Axel Salto, like other highly esteemed Danish artists, initiated a collaboration with the Royal Porcelain Factory. The Saxbo workshop, with Nathalie Krebs and Gunnar Nylund at the helm, was established in 1929, and in the following decades this workshop housed a number of unique ceramicists, including Eva Stæhr-Nielsen, Edith Sonne, Jens Jacob Bregnø and Hugo Liisberg. At the same time, Arne Bang was shaping his vases, bowls and dishes in the sleek lines and simple aesthetics of Art Deco.

We look forward to providing you with an insight into the work of these artists and more at our theme auction with Danish 20thcentury stoneware.
