Books Born to Run

If you get a kick out of discussing horsepower, you now have the chance to become the owner of Scandinavia's largest motor bookstore, Koster’s Motor Bookstore, which is up for auction in September.

Everything with a Motor

If you have engine oil running through your veins, you get a kick out of cubic centimeters, and you experience a natural high from seeing a new coating in strong colours – then you now have the chance to become the owner of one of the world's largest collections of motor literature. The unique and comprehensive collection, representing more than 100 years of history, contains over 130,000 volumes of all kinds of motor literature, ranging from instruction and workshop manuals to spare parts directories. In short, you can find literature on everything with an engine: cars, boats, mopeds, scooters, tractors, trucks, stationary engines etc.

Historic Bookstore with International Customers

Koster’s Motor Bookstore, which today has customers all over the world, was founded in 1962 by the Danish bookseller and car enthusiast Jens Olesen. The collection is today considered one of the world's five largest and is currently owned by Tom Frandsen, who for health reasons has chosen to sell this highly cherished possession. The store (the premises of which can be leased by the buyer) consists of the front-end store and a warehouse where most of the books are located on shelves divided into categories.

Rare Original Car Manuals

The interest in both newer and older cars is as great as it ever has been, and this is also reflected in the interest in literature about cars. While a lot of information is available in digital format today, the number of collectors continues to grow and among these are people who appreciate holding the original instruction manuals in their hands. The collection here includes Aston Martin, Cadillac, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Singer and many, many others. With its impressive and very comprehensive book inventory, Koster’s Motor Bookstore is an important and unique source of knowledge about engine use and maintenance. It is also a unique opportunity for anyone who wants to continue the bookstore or simply wants to become the owner of a world-class library of motor literature.
