Jakob Dupont at 50

Visionary, well-liked, committed and diplomatic – these are some of the features that best describe Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneer's CEO Jakob Dupont, who turns 50 on 4 May.

 

Jakob Dupont began as an IT consultant for the auction house in 1995, and in 1998 he was hired as IT Manager – a job that enabled him to combine his technical expertise as a computer scientist from the University of Copenhagen with a personal interest in art and culture. Jakob Dupont was the driving force behind the launch of the company’s online auctions in 2004 and joined the Executive Board in 2008. Over the years, he has been responsible for many different parts of the company – from IT and customer service to HR and marketing, which means that today he knows the inner workings of the auction house down to the smallest detail.

A Digital Frontrunner

By virtue of his strategic abilities as well as his extensive insight into the company and the auction business in general, he was appointed CEO in the summer of 2013. His vision for Bruun Rasmussen is to continue the modernization of the auction house and to increasingly adapt it to the needs of the modern global consumer. It is to his credit that Bruun Rasmussen is currently a frontrunner within the field of digital auction platforms. The company’s online auction system is an inspiration to professionals all over the world. In 2017, Jakob Dupont participated in a panel talk at the "Global Auction House Summit" in Boston, where he shared his great knowledge of digital solutions with other major players in the international auction market. He emphasizes accessibility in the broadest sense of the word and believes that Bruun Rasmussen has to be visible on several digital platforms and address a wide customer base. Many of these decisions have already paid off and has resulted in record turnovers during the past five years.

Trust and Respect

It is Jakob intention that the traditional auctions and online auctions continue to complement each other, and he sees it as a crucial part of Bruun Rasmussen’s business model that the company is at the forefront when it comes to expertise and customer satisfaction. Jakob Dupont's leadership is based on mutual trust and respect between him and the Bruun Rasmussen family, as well as the team of employees, whose high level of professionalism and strong work ethic are a contributing factor to the great success of the auction house. He always sets the bar high and invests in the training and further education of his employees. In Jakob Dupont’s view, Bruun Rasmussen’s future will be secured through a joint effort of all the employees at the company.

And Privately...

Jakob Dupont’s office is located at Bruun Rasmussen's headquarters in Copenhagen's Nordhavn. Privately, he lives in Fredensborg north of Copenhagen with his wife and three children. He is an active and adventurous man who takes his family on trips to exotic locations, including a hiking trip in Nepal, a donkey ride in Provence and a ski trip in Sweden. He also participates in the DHL company race in Copenhagen every year with the employees of Bruun Rasmussen as well as his family.
