Just like a painter acknowledges his work of art with a signature, and signatories put their seal of approval on content, signed memorabilia photographs have also been approved by the portrayed. At the upcoming auction, there is a wonderful selection of photographs with musicians, royalty, politicians, actors, sports stars, scientists, astronauts and rock stars who have all given a small piece of themselves and in many cases endowed their portrait with a signature. Marlon Brando, Neil Armstrong, Christopher Reeve, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Bill Gates, Elizabeth Taylor, Scarlett Johansson, Albert Einstein, Sean Connery and many more have found their way to the auction.

Downfall, Beauty and TalentWe can also present a few unsigned or private photographs, including three spontaneous snapshots of Elvis Presley from a photo shoot in the early 1960s. In addition, there is also a legendary photo of Elizabeth Taylor at a masquerade ball at the Hotel Ca'Rezzonico in Venice in 1967. You can bid on a contemporary diva in the shape of a large, signed colour photograph of the American-Danish actress Scarlett Johansson, who is currently the world's highest-paid female actress. The award-winning American photojournalist Ruth Orkins should also be highlighted for her stunning portrait from 1951 of colleague Robert Capa in Paris. Hungarian-American Capa is considered one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century, and he covered some of the most significant military conflicts of his time before dying in Vietnam in 1954 after stepping on a landmine. |
