The bids were many, March 4th, as Bruun Rasmussen conducted a sale of exquisite modern art. Michael Kvium became the absolute highlight of the evening when "Olien, arvtagerbillede" from 1992 set a new world record with a hammer price of DKK 1,000,000 (€ 140.000). The former record was also set at a Bruun Rasmussen auction, in the spring of 2007, when the work "Double Me" achieved a hammer price of DKK 700,000 (€ 93.500).

Kvium was not the only modern high jumper to top the one million mark, however. Also Vilhelm Lundstrøm's portrait of Anny Nissen, estimated at DKK 500,000, was the object of much attention. After several bids, it achieved the hammer price of 1,000,000 (€ 140.000) which is a new auction record for Lundstrøm. This work, hitherto a family possession, has now been purchased by a foreign private collector. Furthermore, Mogens Andersen's composition from 1973 set a new record with a hammer price of DKK 210,000 (€ 28.000) against an estimate of DKK 100,000 (€ 13.500).

The visual artist Richard Winther's collection was presented for sale at an auction earlier the same day. Richard Winther died in 2007 and left behind a fine collection of art works, partly his own works and partly works by his close friends. His circle of friends included e.g. Per Kirkeby and Bjørn Nørgard whose works achieved very impressive hammer prices. Winther's own works – paintings as well as sculptures – were also sold at far more than their estimates. The best result was achieved by a composition from 1989, sold at DKK 68,000 (€ 10.000) which is twice the estimate.
