On the Lookout for Russian Art

We ended the summer's international auction in Copenhagen with a blast of a Russian sale! Seven million kroner hammer prices were achieved along with many other great sales. We are already now looking for art and antiques from the Tsar period in Russia for our next upcoming theme auctions in November.

At our auctions, we can see that our Russian customers are currently very interested in buying back their heritage and history. In order to meet this high demand, we will hold two Russian theme auctions in November, one of which will be held as part of our international auction in Bredgade, Copenhagen, the second as a subsequent online auction.

We Are Always Open for Valuations

If you have Russian art and antiques that you are considering selling at auction, we recommend that you seize this opportunity due to the current high demand. Come by for a free and non-binding valuation. We are open all weekdays during the summer at our locations in Copenhagen and Aarhus.

Million Kroner Hammer Prices on Russian Icons

At the summer's international auction, we truly saw how much Russia's heritage is sought after. With a combined hammer price of DKK 27.6 million and no less than seven million kroner hammer prices, the auction became the best Russian sale in the history of Bruun Rasmussen.

The highest hammer price was DKK 4.6 million, which was achieved with a large Russian church icon from the 16th century with a representation of The Descent from the Cross. This meant that we achieved an auction record, since an icon has never before been sold for such a large amount on the international art market. Another million kroner hammer price included DKK 4.1 million for a Russian church icon with the Archangel St. Mikhail from the same period, while three other icons also achieved hammer prices in the millions.

At the same time Alexei Kondratevich Savrasov's picturesque depiction of nomads from 1852 ended up with DKK 1.45 million, and the jeweller Feodor Rückert's large Russian wedding kovsh was also part of the impressive result with a hammer price of DKK 1.3 million.
