Golden Heavyweights
The two coveted gold coins will be joined by quite a few other gold coins, where a couple should be mentioned here – in particular the large 50 Francs / 10 Daler 1904 from the Danish West Indies. Weighing in at 16 grams it is the largest Danish gold coin since Frederik IV's impressive five ducat 1704 – struck exactly 200 years previously. It is only the second time we offer this coin at an online auction.
Among the selection of coins from the great wide world, there are many beautiful gold coins in a generally very fine quality, be it kroners, Francs, Lire, Sovereigns, ducats, Pahlavis, Dollars and Krugerrands, but speaking of size, we have to mention the beautiful Medal from the Battle of Køge Bay. It is a wonderful gilt, galvanic example of one of the Baroque period’s largest and most beautiful medals. Only a few individual examples in gold are known to exist, and we would of course like to hear from customers who have such a medal in their possession and are considering putting it up for auction.
