Interesting items and high hammer prices in 2006

Bruun Rasmussen conducts new online auctions every Thursday all year around. Along with the online auctions in Vejle and Landskrona, our department in Havnen offers an average of 600-800 items on the Internet every week. In 2006, apart from the regular online auctions, we also held special online auctions with themes such as classic posters, maritime effects and older paintings from Greenland. The year of 2006 has, furthermore, been characterised by several impressive auction results. These include a Copenhagen Louis XVI mahogany commode from the late 18th century with a hammer price of DKK 22,000, a large Russian table lamp in porcelain and gilt bronze from the second half of the 19th century with a hammer price of DKK 29,000, and a Bodil Kjær writing-desk with a hammer price of DKK 38,000. In addition, Mehmed Néjad's painting "La Mer Egée" achieved a staggering hammer price of DKK 145,000, while a large set of Georg Jensen silver cutlery by the name of "King" went for DKK 50,000.

Havnen 2007

Already, here at our homepage you will find several items that are to be sold at the first online auctions of 2007. These include various items in different categories and different price ranges. If you are looking for an older piece of furniture or an older painting to grace your modern home, or modern design to go with older heirlooms, there are many interesting possibilities. Likewise, you will have ample opportunity to supplement your dinner set, glass service or silverware in the new year.

Prominent among the older furniture is an early 19th century long-case clock from Southern Jutland that could almost be said to represent the Danish "crème de la crème" within this category. It is signed "Hans Kaatmann 1808 in Broacker [Broager]", and the clock case was presumable made by the famous master joiner Lorentz Nielsen in Aabenraa. This long-case clock is estimated at DKK 15,000 – 25,000. You will also be able to bid for a Rococo cabinet adorned with rocaille and Old Testament motifs from the 18th and 19th century. The cabinet is estimated at DKK 4,000 – 6,000.

Older paintings include, for example, a large painting by Jens Peter Møller (1783-1854) entitled "A Summer's Day at the Bath and Frederiksborg Castle", estimated at DKK 20,000 – 30,000. It was painted in 1854, and it depicts Christian IVs magnificent palace – constructed in Dutch renaissance style – a mere five years before the edifice burned down. Today, J.P. Møller is known as an able landscape painter, and in the present painting of Frederiksborg Castle he displays his keen interest in the Danish landscape and Danish history.

If you dream of a voyage to the tropics, or if you are interested in the maritime world, we also offer a ship's portrait depicting the German bark Friedrich Perthes off Hong Kong, estimated at DKK 10,000 – 15,000.

The modern section includes, for example, a pair of Poul Kjærholm "PK-22" easy chairs with steel frames and seat and back in black leather, estimated at DKK 15,000 – 20,000. Or how about a collection of more than 50 specimens of Henning Koppel's "New York" steel cutlery from Georg Jensen, estimated at DKK 4,000 – 6,000?

Of special note in the category of 'miscellaneous' are a number of Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen's coveted figures, including his "Siamese Temple Dancer", "Balinese Woman" and "Japanese Conjurer", estimates ranging from DKK 3,000 to 7,000. The jewellery includes a platinum brooch in the form of a bow adorned with numerous brilliants and diamonds in various sizes, estimated at DKK 8,000.
