A Not-So-Ordinary Jensen
At a time when industrialisation was roaring ahead at full steam, and traditional craftsmanship was threatened by mechanical mass production, Georg Jensen (1866-1935) founded the silver smithy carrying his name in 1904. It was located in Bredgade 36 in the central part of Copenhagen. One of the fascinating things about Georg Jensen is that the company’s production invites you on a unique journey through the 20th century's changing styles - from soft art nouveau to rigorous functionalism. The reason for the company's international success can without doubt be attributed to the fact that it has always managed to attract the most talented designers.
