Yves Saint Laurent at Auction
At the early age of 21 Yves Saint Laurent (1936-2008) took the fashion world by storm, when he was hired as chief designer at Dior in Paris. A few years later the age of 24 he founded his own fashion house, where he revolutionized the fashion industry throughout the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Exuberant creativity
It was a completely unique talent and the ability to combine several different art forms in his designs that brought Saint Laurent to the top of the fashion world. In the unique collection of the fashion designer's sketches, collages, signed books, photographs and jewellery you also get a special insight into his exuberant creativity - both as a designer, writer and artist. The collection comes from a former model who was a friend of Saint Laurent. She was given all the items by him personally during the 1980s and 1990s.
Iconic significance
Yves Saint Laurent was one of the greatest fashion designers of the 20th century. He became the first living designer who received recognition for his iconic significance for the fashion industry at a retrospective exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in New York in 1983. Over time a number films have been made about the legendary couturier/fashion designer. The latest addition is the film "Saint Laurent", which is currently showing in Danish movie theatres (premiere 27 August 2015).
