Extravagant phone from Vertu

Online auction 1412 of jewellery and wristwatches at 8 pm on Wednesday 19 March will feature an unparalleled rarity. The piece in question is Vertu’s elegant, sparkling “Signature” 18 ct. gold mobile phone, adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 6.60 ct., with a polished ceramic back and black leather sides.

High functionality

The display of the phone is OLED sapphire crystal, which takes more than two weeks to manufacture in a special 2000°C  furnace. It is so hard that it must be cut, ground and polished with diamond-tipped tools, making the phone pretty much impossible to scratch. 

One of the buttons on the phone has a special feature – a push of the dedicated button puts you in direct personal contact with Vertu’s technical experts around the clock.

Ringtone by famous composer

The jewel in the crown is a ringtone composed especially for Vertu by the award-winning composer Dario Marianelli. The track is performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and includes flute solos by one of the world’s best flute players, Andrea Griminelli.

Equipment in a class of its own

The phone was purchased from Vertu in Monaco in 2008 for € 87,000. It is being sold together with its handmade case of ostrich and alligator leather with 18 ct. white gold and diamond clasp. The phone and its case come in the original black polished wooden box, and the lot includes a Vertu CD, headset, charger, extra battery, 12V car charger and computer cable. The phone’s certificate and manual are also included.
