The art of breaking the frame

We are currently offering 57 catalogue numbers of wide-ranging and incredibly exciting sculptures from a long list of artists. A number of the works come from Ove Højgaard Andersen’s outstanding art collection, which he acquired during the 70s and 80s. “Uncle Ove”, as he was known due to his role as patron, was a passionate and extraordinary art lover with a particular eye for quality and the trends of the day.

Danish modernism

The majority of the sculptures are Danish, from the mid-50s to the late 70s. The modes of expression, choice of materials and spheres of interest vary greatly, and offer a broad insight into the diverse interfaces of modernism: concrete art such as that of Egon Fischer; abstract expressionism and the circle in and around CoBrA, represented here by Mogens Balle and Carl-Henning Pedersen; Karl Åge Riget’s cultivation of pure geometric forms; Peter Bonnén’s minimalist sculptures in several parts, and Børge Jørgensen’s refined figures of polished steel, for example.

Gems from the universe of Dalsgaard

The auction also features some beautiful works by Sven Dalsgaard, including “Kom igen en anden dag I” (Come again another day I) from 1967 and “Tre flasker m/Dannebrog” (Three bottles with Dannebrog), which, in true Dalsgaardian style, combine humour with artistic finesse.
