Luxurious wristwatches

No less than 43 men’s and ladies’ watches from prominent names such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, A. Lange & Söhne, Rolex, Cartier and IWC will be going under the hammer today at Bredgade.

One of the most exciting watches at the autumn auction is an 18 carat gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, ref. 5402. The legendary Royal Oak design was launched in 1972 and so it celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2012. The watch up for auction is from 1979, and it is extremely rare to find such an early gold Royal Oak at auction, especially in this wonderful condition.

A plethora of Patek Philippe!

Probably the world’s most luxurious watch brand, Swiss Patek Philippe is well represented. There are a couple of Golden Ellipses in both gold and white gold, and not least a rare ref. 3573 in 18 carat gold, with a winder crown on the back, popularly known as a “back winder”.

The most interesting Patek Philippe is, however, a ref. 5036 in gold with annual calendar and moon phase as well as its original 18 carat gold bracelet. There is also a popular Patek Philippe for women: a Twenty-4 in red gold with diamonds on the dial and rim, and its box and all its certificates.

An out-of-the-ordinary rarity

The auction also features a rare A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Timezone in platinum. This is truly an out-of-the-ordinary rarity. Firstly, the renowned German watchmaker only produces 5,000 watches a year, and secondly, this model is extremely rare on the auction market – particularly this version in platinum.

Something from the world’s oldest watchmaker

From the world’s oldest watchmaker, Vacheron Constantin, comes a fine Les Historiques in platinum. Not only is this watch interesting because of the watchmaker behind it and its rare materials, but also because the model bears the number 8, which, as we all know, symbolises “wealth” in several Asian cultures, including China.

From Omega to Rolex

If you like the legendary moon watch, Omega Speedmaster, you should take a look at Speedmaster Pre-Moon “Ed White” ref. ST105.003 with its coveted mechanical chronograph, calibre 312. The watch is named after astronaut Ed White who wore this model on his historic Gemini 4 mission.

Rolex enthusiasts are sure to be tempted by the following watches: an older Sea-Dweller ref. 1665 from 1980, a Submariner in gold and steel, a GMT in gold and steel with brown dial and four Oyster Perpetual Datejusts as well as a luxurious Masterpiece Pearlmaster, richly set with fine diamonds for women.
