With this spring’s impressive record hammer price of DKK 650,000 for Walasse Ting’s painting “Kiss Me Under Moonlight” from 1976, the auction market is particularly receptive to further works by the artist. We are currently seeking paintings by the Chinese-American artist for this summer’s international auction at Bredgade.
Born in Shanghai, Walasse Ting (1929–2010) moved via Hong Kong and Paris to New York, where he was inspired by Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism. He is, however, best known for his colourful, figurative paintings of nude women, birds and flowers.
Besides being an artist, he was also the author of several books on art, among other subjects. Today, he is represented at a number of the world’s leading art museums, including MOMA and Guggenheim in New York, Tate Modern in London, Pompidou in Paris and Hong Kong Museum of Art.
