Summer art online

Forget sunning yourself on the beach or splashing around in the water! Up for sale right now, we have top quality art by Kvium, Kirkeby, Kehnet Nielsen, Erik A. Frandsen, Heerup, Birkemose and others.

The sunshine and summer temperatures still elude us, anyway. So there’s every reason to take a closer look at the superb modern works in our auction in the first week of July.

Climb aboard with Kvium

If you are one of those who missed the boat for Kvium when the economy was overheating, now is your chance to jump aboard and secure an oil painting by one of our greatest living artists. “Simple Sky Piece” is a “house-trained” Kvium produced in the period around the impressive ARoS exhibition in 2006. Unlike the ambiguous “White Power” painting, it is unlikely anyone would take offence at these beautifully painted cloud formations and the three birds that feature in the composition of this painting. Kvium coaxes a great effect out of just a few resources here. The works carry estimates of DKK 75,000 and DKK 50,000 respectively.

Expressive Frandsen

Another member of “De unge vilde” (the young wild), Erik A. Frandsen, is priced lower than Kvium. That hardly seems fair, considering the expressive hallmarks that position Frandsen as one of the leading lights of the 1980s and 90s. “Rumænien” (Romania) is a powerful image that stops at nothing in terms of raw power combined with Frandsen’s delicious mastery of materials.

Kehnet Nielsen’s lyrical stillness

Standing in contrast to the expressive Frandsen piece is the lyrical “Variationer over stilheden” (Variations on stillness) by Kehnet Nielsen. The intensity of Nielsen’s universe is incomparable, and with an opening bid on a par with an inexpensive package tour, this is an opportunity to travel into an unfathomable inner continent of rich artistry. The same is true of the 1993 piece also up for auction. Stylistically, it follows Kirkeby’s magnificent 1980 lithographic suite, “Stilleben” (still life).

Heerup, Birkemose and Robert Jacobsen

If the colours of summer are really to see the light of day, there’s every reason to take a look at Heerup’s fantasy horse and especially Birkemose’s glowing colour compositions: the closest you will get to diving headlong into an azure coral reef without getting your toes wet! You’ll then appreciate visually “drying out” in Robert Jacobsen’s expressive colour equilibrium, which at 120 x 200 cm will pale even the largest bath towels into insignificance!

The preview takes place at our divisions at Søren Frichs Vej 34 D in Aarhus and Sundkrogsgade 30, Nordhavn, Copenhagen.
