Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson

We offer a number of historically interesting items from the family after the Norwegian poet and Nobel prize winner Bjørnstjerne Bjornson (1832-1910).

The great Norwegian poet and Nobel prize winner Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson gave in 1908 his five children a photo album each, containing photographs from their home - the property Aulestad - today converted to a museum. We present the copy originally belonging to his son Bjørn together with a handwritten and signed postcard with the lyrics for a melody by the composer Edmund Neupert and a signed family photograph from Paris, 1884.

We also present a graphic portrait of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson sitting in his chair from 1908 by the artist Erik Werenskiold and a symbolist sketch by the artist Halfdan Egedius for his famous work “Spill og dans” placed at the Norwegian National Gallery in Oslo.

Among the more curious items we present a collection of textiles, one of which is embroidered “Aulestad 11. sep. 1908” and three 18th century Norwegian silver shoe buckles with the same provenance.

The collection can be viewed in our Aarhus department. You can place your bid here
