Danmarks Indsamling 2011

Support the young people of Africa and purchase art of Denmark's leading contemporary artists including Michael Kvium, John Kørner and Erik A. Frandsen.

Art auction

Once again this year, we will be holding an art auction as part of the 2011 appeal, and we have invited Denmark’s leading contemporary artists to participate in the auction by donating works for us to auction off. The auction will take the form of a live broadcast auction, which will be held under the same roof as the major appeal show in Carlsberg’s old bottling halls in Valby, close to the centre of Copenhagen.

The hammer price will go directly towards the work of the humanitarian organisations to support the young people of Africa, while the 24% commission, which is always added to the hammer price, will go to the artists by way of thanks for their contribution to the auction. In this way, we hope to be able to raise the quality and thus also the final hammer price.

The artists participating are: Bjørn Nørgaard, Christian Lemmerz, Erik A. Frandsen, Ingvar Cronhammar, Ivan Andersen, Jesper Neergaard, John Kørner, Jonas Hvid Søndergaard, Julie Nord, Lars Nørgård, Lise Malinovsky, Marco Evaristti, Martin Bigum, Michael Kvium, Nils Erik Gjerdevik, Ole Ahlberg, Peter Bonnén and René Holm.

Where, when and how?

The artworks will feature in a preliminary online auction on Wednesday 19 January, and the final live auction will take place at the Carlsberg Museum at 10pm on Saturday 29 January. There will be a preview at Carlsberg Museum, Valby Langgade 1, DK-2500 Valby, from Wednesday 26 January to Friday 28 January between the hours of 3pm and 6pm.

Participation in the actual live auction is by telephone bid only. We therefore recommend that anyone interested in bidding registers at Bruun Rasmussen prior to the auction. On the evening of the auction itself, you will be called by a member of our staff a few minutes before the work goes under the hammer to allow you to bid for your favourite piece. To participate in the auction, you are required to bid above the price achieved at the preliminary online auctions. Companies have the opportunity to have their company name mentioned during the auction when they purchase a work of art.

Advantages for companies

In addition to supporting the young people of Africa and the possibility of enriching the company with the art of one of Denmark’s leading contemporary artists, companies can also write off the purchase in their balance sheet. Find out more about the advantages of first-time purchases here
