William Green was the oldest son of the English family of clockmakers who worked in Aabenraa from the middle of the 18th century. He made many clocks, parts of the cases of which were made by cabinet maker Lorents Nielsen, who gave a Danish interpretation to the neo-classicist style. Two grandfather clocks will be up for auction at Bredgade - each with its unique expression.

In the upper part a pagoda sheltering eastern figure with movable arm that strikes a bell (head missing). Decorated with fields of polychromatic enamel, enamel dial decorated in colours. About 1770.
