The stock exchange's chandeliers

We are dealing with a piece of cultural history when the hammer comes down for Kaj Gottlob's chandeliers from the stock exchange in June.

At the international auction in Bredgade this spring one of the main lots was P.S. Krøyer's sketch for his famous painting of the prominent members of the stock exchange, a painting that is still located in the impressive building today.

The stock exchange, however, is also responsible for another interesting item at Bruun Rasmussen's modern auction in Bredgade in June. In the same distinguished interior of the trading room, we find professor and architect Kaj Gottlob's unique, gigantic chandeliers which he designed in 1957 as part of a comprehensive restoration of the trading room. These chandeliers are now about to be replaced with more modern lighting and the stock exchange has therefore asked Bruun Rasmussen to sell them at an auction.

With these sumptuous chandeliers you acquire a piece of Danish cultural history from one of the oldest buildings in Copenhagen, raised by Christian IV – one of the landmarks of Copenhagen for almost 400 years.

Please note that the chandeliers are sold in pairs, and that the preview will take place at the stock exchange by appointment only.
