“In 1934, Pierre Boucher founds with René Zuber the Alliance-Photo agency that delivers the first deontology of photography and enhances the importance of photographers’ signatures. Multidisciplinary, the French photographer explores the avant-garde aesthetic with surrealist nudes, photograms, collages and solarizations. He also produces more commercial works, illustrating advertisements and books such as Emile Allais’ French Skiing Method - Pierre Boucher favors sports themes: ‘You have to satisfy yourself with a quick look, capture movements in full-flight, apprehend life in its most active and elusive essence’ - establishing photography as a better tool for publicity than drawing. He captures his passion for travels as well as nudes that he depicts via singular angles influenced by the geometry of modern art and Le Corbusier’s architectural and design creations. Pierre Boucher highly contributed to the installment of photography as a modern medium - a tool for the contemporary society of the 1930s that just like him had a new found passion for speed, rhythm, sports and healthy bodies.” theredlist.com
