Peter Callesen was educated at the Jutland Art Academy and at Goldsmiths in London from 1997–2000. He primarily works with paper as a starting point for a performance, installation or paper cuts.
A piece of paper in itself may be a simple and unpretentious material. Yet Callesen is able to exploit the full potential of his chosen medium: Out of nothing, he is able to create impressive and thoughtful paper cuts that both testify to a tremendously technical ingenuity and aesthetic understanding – combined with existential depth and the joy of a good story.
