Niels Skovgaard (b. Copenhagen 1858, d. Lyngby 1938)

Two studies of female heads. 1896. Both preparatory sketches for “Trata, kvindedansen i Megara” from 1923. Unsigned. One witnessed on the reverse by Ebbe Skovgaard as being a genuine work by Niels Skovgaard. Pencil and oil on cardboard and oil on canvas laid on cardboard. Visible sizes 15.5×13 cm and 14×20 cm. (2).

The lower part of one of the studies is enclosed as a separate piece. Minor crackles and peelings on the one. In need of a light surface cleaning.
