Unknown photographer: An original German b/w press photograph of the American runner and world record-holder Helen Stephens (1918–1994) as she crosses the goal line at the Berlin Olympic Games of 1936 and thereby wins gold in the women's 100-metre race. Back with Foto Agenzia Keystone Milano stamps and describing news telegram dated August 4th, 1936. Photo size 18×24 cm. Frame size 33×43 cm.

Despite her modest age Helen Stephens withdrew from running sports immediately after her victory in Berlin in 1936 and dedicated the next many years of her life to building her own basketball team. She was the first woman ever to accomplish this.

Helen Stephens is still remembered as one of the greatest female athletes of the 20th century.

This is an original b/w press photograph from 1936, which shows surface creases and round corners. Furthermore normal signs of handling.
