Kaspar Oppen Samuelsen (b. Copenhagen 1977)
Untitled. Diptych, 2013. Both signed and dated on the reverse. Gouache, pencil and paper collage. (2)
Kaspar Oppen Samuelsen is educated in London and Copenhagen where he currently lives and works. In his art, he refers freely to our shared cultural history - including cinema, art, architecture and theatre – and he uses a wide range of different techniques, such as drawing and collage.
The result becomes a fragmented, humorous but also melancholic tale of the reality we are dealing with. A pantomime world where the characters have lost control, thereby revealing humanity in all its frailty, folly and vanity.
