Franciska Clausen (b. Aabenraa 1899, d. s.p. 1986)

Untitled. Study. Unsigned. Indian ink and gouache on cardboard (the reverse side of a telegram motive). Visible size 32×23 cm. Sheet size 37×31 cm.

The motif may be from the years following the artist's return to Denmark from France, but parts of the coloring were probably done late in the artist's career.

Inge Lise Mogensen Bech, art historian, Ph.d., has kindly confirmed, based on her research into Franciska Clausen's art, that in the “Fonden Franciska Clausens Samlinger” (The Foundation Francisca Clausen's Collections) deposited at Museum Sønderjylland, there is another drawing made on the back of a telegram motif that is similar to the one that forms the back of this work.
