A George II sterling silver tureen and cover, of oval shape, applied gadroon rim, two cast scroll-shaped handles with bird's head, rocailles and foliage, raised on four paw feet headed by lion's heads. The cover chased with gadroon band, cast handle with rocailles and foliage. Tureen and cover engraved with coat of arms and motto Festina Lente in a Rococo cartouche. The tureen reverse engraved with scratch weight 98=2. Maker William Cripps, London 1754. Weight 3020 g. H. 26 cm. L. 43 cm.
